When we set out to create the new Ultimate Fire Tinder, our mission was to build a fire starting tinder worthy of that name. It not only had to be the easiest tinder on the planet to ignite...it also had to be able to do it in any weather you are likely to face. After all, what good is a fire tinder if it doesn't work when you need it most?! Likely, when you need it most you are both cold and wet...which leads to your fingers being numb. You may even be to the point of hypothermia. That's not the best time to find out your tinder is going to let you down! We're talking life and death here. We take that seriously.
We accomplished our mission with the newest Ultimate Fire Tinder. It is ridiculously waterproof. So much so that you can absolutely soak it, and it still lights. It also works with sparks that are not as hot...such as a flint spark from an empty lighter! Talk about reliable. Go ahead and take your Bic lighter in the field. Even it cracked and all the fluid leaked out, you could still start a fire with it! All you need is the spark from the lighter.
That "light it with a spark" makes it a perfect match for a product like Exotac's nanoSPARK, which uses a flint just like the ones found in a Zippo lighter to generate sparks. Of course, you can also use Ultimate Fire Tinder with a ferro rod or firesteel...they generally have sparks that are much hotter than a lighter's flint. That makes them a fantastic choice to use along side the Ultimate Fire Tinder, since they both work fine after being exposed to water. It goes without saying that a lighter and matches, which already provide an open flame, work fantastic with Ultimate Fire Tinder.

Fat Rope Stick has proved time and time again to be the ultimate choice in weatherproof fire tinder.
In this video, we demonstrate Fat Rope Stick's unique ability to be completely submerged in water then lit with only a few sparks from a ferro rod.
Being able to light a fire is one of the most basic necessary survival skills...and for making coffee, which we're sure is also on the list of things for survival as well.
